The difference between Counselling and Coaching
The object of Counselling and therapy is to identify, support and resolve problems that are making people feel bad emotionally and therefore impairing their ability to function well. It is understood that until the emotional distress is resolved it will be difficult to make significant changes in their lives. Counselling gently supports one through this insight and understanding of the issues, identify possible patterns and triggers causing the disharmony. Once they are feeling stronger and more confident, they can then start taking action to change their circumstances.
The object of Coaching is to help people achieve their goals. This framework is used when people are generally ready to receive guidance on how to make changes towards achieving their desired goals. The work is focused on creating and maintaining motivation for change, exploring obstacles to change and creating plans for change.
As ethical practitioners, we aim to remain congruent with each client's unique personality, circumstances and belief systems. If you are unsure as to which may be the right fit for you, speak to Fiona on 0418 105 574 and together we will be able to match the right practitioner to your current needs and circumstances.
