Family Relationship Concerns

The family unit can take many forms. Families are a complex of interactions and exchanges between individuals, many interactions and exchanges can be positive; however when they turn negative and result in unresolved and long lasting differences problems can arise.

Family concerns may also stem from the changing form of families, such as blended families (families that are newly formed as a result of separated couples merging in a new relationship). Families also change form, if the parents are transitioning through a period of separation or divorce. During these periods, a range of issues may present themselves such as, relationship problems between partners, parents and siblings, new living arrangements, financial adjustment and issues surrounding the care of siblings.

Counsellors work within the specialised field of family counselling to increase communication and enhance or maintain relationships, even following instances of separation. The use of a professional outsider to support and provide non-bias navigation to all parties within the family unit to allow all members to have open, honest and considered interactions.

The types of issues family counselling covers?
